Homeodomain Resource

The Homeodomain Resource is a curated collection of sequence, structure, interaction, genomic, and functional information on the homeodomain family. A description of each of the major sections of the database can be found below, and users can navigate through the site using the links found in the menu that appears on the left-hand side of every page within the site.

Explore the Homeodomain Resource (HDR)

  • Homeodomain proteins

A detailed view of all homeodomain proteins in HDR, providing the sequence of each protein and the homeodomain region within each protein. For each entry, links to Entrez Gene, RefSeq, UniProt, Ensembl, and additional information within HDR are provided, where available.

  • Solved three-dimensional structures of homeodomain proteins and protein-DNA complexes

This section includes information on all X-ray and NMR structures of homeodomain proteins, including structures where the homeodomain protein is bound to DNA. For each entry, links to the Protein Data Bank (PDB) and the NCBI Molecular Modeling Database (MMDB) are provided.

  • Protein-protein interactions involving homeodomain proteins

A curated list of homeodomain interactions at the protein level, providing information on the mechanism of interaction and links to the primary literature documenting these interactions. Links to the Biomolecular Interaction Network Database (BIND) are also provided, where available.

  • DNA binding sites

A curated list of known homeodomain-DNA interactions, indicating the DNA binding sequence and relevant citations from the literature.

  • Human genetic and genomic disorders linked to homeodomain proteins

A comprehensive list of entries collected from Online Mendelian Inheritance in Man (OMIM) and the Human Gene Mutation Database (HGMD). For each condition, a list of associated nucleotide-level and protein-level mutations is provided.

  • Database statistics

Information on the contents of HDR by both category and species. The species list allows for the quick collection of information on homeodomain proteins from a single species.
