NEFE High School Financial
Planning Program®
CSREES and the Credit Union National Association
(CUNA) are major partners with NEFE for the
delivery and evaluation of the NEFE® High
School Financial Planning Program®.
Each year, more than 500,000 students complete
the six-unit curriculum. It emphasizes such
concepts as managing credit, saving to achieve
financial goals, and owning and protecting
assets. A nationwide program
evaluation in 1997-98—to be replicated
in 2004—showed that the program resulted
in statistically significant knowledge, behavior,
and confidence improvements by students.
For example, nearly half of the students
started saving or began saving more.
