Children, Youth, and Families
at Risk (CYFAR)
The Children,
Youth, and Families at Risk (CYFAR) program supports
community educational programs for at-risk
youth to develop skills for academic and
career success. To assure that critical
needs of children and families are met,
CYFAR supports comprehensive, intensive,
community-based programs developed with
active citizen participation in all phases.
It may be surprising to know that:
- More than 5,000 youth in CYFAR projects
are enrolled in 175 4-H clubs, led by 1,457
youth and adult volunteers.
- The work of 381 staff in the community
programs was bolstered by the work of 4,663
volunteers—1,244 volunteers were
youth and 3,419 were adults.
- Volunteers contributed more than 92,000
hours of service.
