Rural Electronic Commerce Extension Program
The Rural Electronic Commerce Extension
Program is a CSREES-funded initiative that
offers grants to community educators and
community organizations interested in offering
e-commerce education through CSREES and four
regional rural development centers.
CSREES and its partners are leading national
and local efforts to make available major
new online business tools that enable small
and intermediate-size enterprises to:
- Strengthen relationships with customers
and suppliers.
- Check out the competition.
- Develop new product ideas and sources.
- Deal with government at all levels.
- Re-design business processes and management
systems.
- Retail or sell goods and services online.
The Rural Electronic Commerce Extension
Program efforts support rural economic growth
by providing businesses and communities with
training and assisting with connectivity,
infrastructure, e-commerce, and other technology-related
issues.
Partners in this program include land-grant
university specialists in 40 states from
traditional (1862), historically black, and
tribal institutions; Small Business Administration;
and tribal government representatives. USDA's
Agricultural Marketing Service (AMS) partners
by developing instructional materials.
