The issue
Once an invasive species
has been introduced, early detection of infestations allows for the most effective management of that species.
Such detection requires regular monitoring. The species, the
geographic location, and the ecosystems targeted for the most intense
monitoring and detection efforts are those identified by
impact and
risk assessments.

What are we doing about it?
We
are conducting detection surveys for the pathogen that causes
Sudden Oak Death (SOD) and
other Phytophthora species.
We
are identifying species of the pathogens that cause
Armillaria
root disease, already present in our region, to help
detect any new species.
