Current Research Projects
At any given time, research scientists with the Eastern Area Modeling Consortium study a wide range of questions related to atmosphere-fire and atmosphere-smoke interactions. Major studies to address the more complex questions are usually part of year-long or multi-year research agreements, while smaller research efforts to fill in gaps and explore possible new studies are often more informal and change direction frequently.
Either the major studies or the smaller research efforts can yield ideas for important weather processes, important weather patterns, or potential new fire-weather indices. Some of these are available as experimental products, while others are so preliminary that they are not distributed outside of the scientists performing the research.
