OIRP assists in the development of cooperative, mutually beneficial research projects between ARS and the international research community, including National Agricultural Research institutions, international organizations, the private sector and other U.S. federal government agencies.

Through its expertise in the international arena, OIRP improves overseas relationships and develops forums to discuss and plan mutual research priorities and activities between ARS leadership, National Program Staff, and scientists and their counterparts abroad.  

Guidance and support continues throughout the course of international collaborations.  OIRP identifies project resources and provides project management and financial oversight.

OIRP is a liaison with other USDA and federal government agencies to communicate the ongoing international research programs of ARS and the results of cooperative research projects.
