Request Soil Survey Reports

• Find soil information on the Web Soil Survey (WSS)
• Check list of soil survey reports in Adobe Acrobat format - these can be downloaded to your computer.
• Contact your local Service Center

The California Association of Resource Conservation Districts (CARCD) distributes California soil survey reports to the public.  There is a shipping and handling fee of $20.00 per copy, payable to CARCD.  To request a report, check report availability on the table below and email CARCD, or call (916) 457-7904, ext. 10.  Please make sure to include the soil survey name as it appears on the list below, as well as your mailing address and phone number.

Lists of hydric soils are maintained for each soil survey area and may be obtained from the Field Office Technical Guide (FOTG) located in each NRCS field office. 

You may find out whether a soil survey area has been published on the Soil Survey Status Map (California only).

If you need soils information for a specific location and/or need technical assistance, please contact the USDA NRCS Service Center closer to you.

If the soil survey report you are interested in is marked as "Loan", it means it is out of print and there are no more copies available. Please contact CARCD at (916) 457-7904, ext. 10, or call the local USDA NRCS Service Center to arrange for a possible loan copy.

Please allow 1 to 2 weeks for delivery.  If you need the report(s) sooner, please contact the corresponding field office.
