Virtual Tour of First Floor, Main Library

Welcome to the New & Featured area of the renovated First Floor, Main Library. As you will soon see, the new Library is focused on you, our customer. Our systems, spaces, signage and staff are customer-centered. We hope you'll find it easier to find resources and uncover the Library's treasures, whether you visit us in person or virtually.

The Lobby The Lobby area's dominant feature is the interactive map & marquee, which informs customers of daily events. The stairs to each side of the marquee were constructed in 1907 and are made of Tennessee marble. The recent removal of a landing at the bottom of the stairs uncovered terrazzo tile flooring, which dates back to the building's dedication in 1895. The library's focus is on Customer Service, and the Lobby is a perfect example of the blend of historic architecture and 21st Century improvements designed to enhance the customer's experience.
