Construction Excellence

The GSA Construction Excellence Program provides guidance to GSA construction projects through collaboration with leaders of the private sector construction community. This partnership allows for the development and implementation of innovative approaches to project management and execution to provide the federal government and client agencies the highest quality construction within budget and schedule. Construction Excellence also includes:

  1. Project Management policy and providing assistance to project managers from the feasibility study phase of projects through design, construction, and turnover of completed projects.
  2. Seismic and Structural Engineering expertise for both seismic standards for GSA buildings and the management of the seismic evaluation of GSA buildings. In addition, GSA has a Seismic Rapid Response group— structural engineers who will conduct building evaluations at earthquake events anywhere in the country.
  3. Building Security expertise for developing security policy and requirements used in the design and construction of GSA facilities. GSA commissions blast testing, develops specialized security design tools, and provides technical assistance to project managers.
  4. Information Technology resources to develop and maintain design and construction project information resources. These support the management and monitoring of the GSA design and construction program.
  5. Construction Excellence Council for peer review of construction techniques, constructability, and feasibility of new projects.
