This is Acer triflorum, or three-flower maple.

Reaching 30 feet at maturity with nonaggressive roots make this handsome tree well suited for small gardens, especially if a sidewalk, patio, or foundation is in close proximity. The brilliant fall color (above, left) and exfoliating bark (above, right) create special interest in the garden from October through the lull of winter. Three-flowered maples prefer full to partial sun and moist well-drained soil. Although the shallow nonaggressive roots support a great small garden tree, they however, cannot tolerate compacted or stagnant soil. Acer triflorum has no known serious pests or diseases and has been proven to tolerate drought and clay soil. Hardy in USDA Hardiness Zones 4-7, you can view this three-flower maple in the Asian Collections.
