Chimonanthus praecox is hardy in USDA Hardiness Zones 7-9, and has been reported to survive in zone 6. This plant thrives in full sun and well drained soil. After establishing itself, wintersweet will produce fragrant yellow flowers between December and February. Heavy pruning is recommended immediately following flowering for rejuvenation.
