POSITION:  Research Coordinator, Brassica Crops

Nickerson-Zwaan is an international organisation, active in research, processing and marketing of vegetable seeds. With our head office in Made in the Netherlands, we also operate facilities in Tuitjenhorn (The Netherlands), Germany, UK, Poland, India, Ukraine and South Africa. Nickerson-Zwaan is a member of Groupe Limagrain, one of the world’s largest seed companies.

For our worldwide research activities in Brassica crops we are looking for a Research Coordinator, Brassica Crops (world-wide) Based in Tuitjenhorn (The Netherlands) – Fulltime

Reporting to the Research Director, your challenge in this key function is to create new, competitive varieties in vegetable Brassica crops (cabbage, cauliflower, broccoli and Brussels sprouts) for world-wide markets.

Your tasks

  • To ensure the creation of products corresponding to market expectations;

  • To further internationalise the Brassica breeding activities of Nickerson-Zwaan;

  • To ensure efficient breeding processes in above-mentioned crops, including the application of relevant new technologies;

  • To manage the different teams of Brassica (pre-)breeders and breeding assistants in Holland and abroad;

  • To manage the overall Brassica reseach budget.

Your profile

  • University degree (MSc or PhD) in plant breeding or other plant sciences;

  • Several years of international experience in managing breeding programmes, preferably in Brassica crops;

  • Good knowledge of modern (bio-)technology and ability to apply this in breeding;

  • Managerial skills in different cultures;

  • Ability to think in strategic research management on a global scale, but to manage breeding on a local scale;

  • Good communication skills;

  • Fluent in English. Sufficient knowledge of the Dutch language , or willing to learn it. Spanish is an advantage;

  • Available and willing to travel frequently (national and international).
