Speech Contest

Designed to give students an idea of the value of public speaking. Contestants must prepare a five to seven minute speech on one of three topics selected approximately three hours before the final judging. They are rated on voice, physical manner, speech structure, development, language, value, and effectiveness of the speech. Contestants must be winners of local Agronomy Clubs.

National Visual Presentation Contest

Manuscript Contest

Provides an excellent opportunity for undergraduates interested in agronomy, crop science, and soil science to gain experience in researching, organizing, and writing articles on agronomic topics.

National Collegiate Soils Contest

Has been held at a different host institution each year since 1961. Soil contestants arrive at various soil pits and are expected to correctly identify, evaluate, classify, and describe four soil profiles.

National Crops Judging Contest

Consists of three parts: plant and seed identification, commercial grain grading, and seed analysis. The Kansas City and Chicago contest represent the national finals of collegiate crops competition for the year. More information can be found at http://sunny.UMCRookston.edu/ITC/Ag/

National Research Symposium Contest

Develop the ability of students to construct research and competitively present those research findings through oral and poster presentations to judges at the ASA-CSSA-SSSA Annual Meetings.

National Poster Presentation Contest

The purpose of this contest is to showcase undergraduate work in club activities and give clubs recognition for promoting agronomy, crop, soil and environmental sciences on their campus or in their local community. Posters will be displayed at the ASA-CSSA-SSSA Annual Meetings.
