New Video on the Successes of the Gallatin/Big Sky Noxious Weed Committee

February 27, 2009
Story by Public Affairs Specialist, Ivy Allen

The Gallatin/Big Sky Noxious Weed Committee is a citizen-led effort to reduce the spread of noxious weeds from Yellowstone National Park to Four Corners along the Gallatin River. The Northern Rocky Mountain RC&D helps sponsor the committee. The committee works to implement a Cooperative Weed Management Plan for the area.

In February 2009, the NRCS public affairs team helped the Gallatin/Big Sky Noxious Weed Committee produce a short 6-minute video. The video highlights the committee's diverse work; it discusses the weed challenges facing the area and the committee's successes made possible through partnerships, landowner assistance, and education outreach efforts.

Participants in the video include educators, landowners, and committee members who are concerned with addressing the weed problems facing Montana. For more information on the group, or if you need assistance addressing your noxious weeds, visit the Gallatin/Big Sky Noxious Weed Committee Web site.
