| The USGS Central Region encompasses the area between the Rocky Mountains and the Mississippi River, including Arkansas, Colorado, Iowa, Kansas, Louisiana, Minnesota, Missouri, Montana, Nebraska, New Mexico, North Dakota, Oklahoma, South Dakota, Texas, and Wyoming. |
| Our scientists and technologists conduct research on a broad range of topics, including geophysics, geocronology, earthquakes, landslide hazards, geochemistry, geologic mapping, climate change, oil and gas assessment, environmental monitoring and remediation, coal resource assessment, paleontology, and ecosystem analysis. |
| The Central Regional Geologist supervises geologic science activities in the region, ensuring that operational support runs smoothly and that scientific work commitments are met. |
