Abstract: STEMS (Stand and Tree Evaluation and Modeling System) is a tree growth projection system. This paper (1) compares the performance of the current version of STEMS developed for the Lake States with that of the original model and (2) reports the results of an analysis of the current model over a wide range of conditions and identifies its main strengths and weaknesses.
