Abstract: Results of the 2001 fifth annual inventory of Missouri?s forest resources show an estimated 14.7 million acres of forest land in the State. The oak hickory type is the predominant forest type on the landscape, making up over 70 percent of all forested land. Between 1989 and 1999-2001, the net volume of all live trees on timberland increased by 29 percent, from 13.8 billion cubic feet to 17.8 billion cubic feet. The continued drought, along with
