Missouri Rural Opportunities Council hosted a Rural Issues Forum on June 23, 2000 in Jefferson City, Missouri—one stop in a five-day tour planned for 30 European Rural University (ERU) members. The Community Policy Analysis Center at the University of Missouri sponsored this tour, which was designed to provide participants the opportunity to share best practices, establish networks, and form collaborative partnerships with rural partners in the United States. ERU's visit to Missouri was a tremendous learning opportunity for rural developers in Missouri and Europe, whose rural areas face similar challenges. Joining the ERU members at the forum were 24 speakers representing various Missouri public and private organizations concerned with rural issues. The ERU participants hailed from Denmark, France, Great Britain, Italy, Northern Ireland, the Republic of Ireland, Germany, and Canada.
