GRANT ANNOUNCEMENTS

Announcing the release of the Ohio Compassion Capital Project Sub-Award

The Ohio Governor's Office of Faith-Based and Community Initiatives is pleased to issue a request for proposals (RFP) for the 2006 Ohio Compassion Capital Project (OCCP) application for a sub-award. The OCCP sub-award will enhance the infrastructure and program capacity of small organizations or new divisions of larger organizations who provide services to high need organizations in Ohio, with preference for those organizations that provide services to the homeless, prisoners, reentering the community, children of prisoners, at-risk youth, addicts, elders in need, families moving from welfare to work, at-risk couples who choose marriage for themselves and other locally identified high need organizations within identified neighborhoods.

Applications need to be submitted to the office of We Care America, The Huntington Bank Building 9th Floor, 17 South High Street, Columbus, Ohio 43215 no later than 4:00pm on Wednesday, March 15, 2006.

The Office of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention (OJJDP) announces three funding opportunities which address mentoring:

Mentoring Initiative for System Involved Youth

The Office of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention (OJJDP) announces the Mentoring Initiative for System Involved Youth, which was established to support the development and enhancement of mentoring programs for youth involved in the juvenile justice system, reentry, and foster care. The initiative seeks to promote collaboration among community organizations and agencies committed to supporting mentoring services for such system involved youth.

Applicants must register for this funding opportunity by March 1, 2006 and submit completed applications online through Grants.gov by 8:00 pm ET, April 17th, 2006. (Solicitation: Mentoring Initiative for System Involved Youth)

Evaluation of Mentoring Initiative for System Involved Youth

OJJDP announces an evaluation of the four mentoring sites receiving awards under OJJDP's Mentoring Initiative for System Involved Youth, which will provide funds to faith- and community-based, nonprofit, and for-profit agencies to enhance and expand existing mentoring strategies; programs to develop, implement, and pilot test mentoring strategies and programs designed for youth involved in the juvenile justice system, reentry, or foster care.

Training and Technical Assistance Program for Mentoring Initiative for System Involved Youth

The Training and Technical Assistance Program for Mentoring Initiative for System Involved Youth will provide training and technical assistance for OJJDP's Mentoring Initiative for System Involved Youth.
