Publications: Workshop Proceedings: Economic Analysis and Land Use Policy

December 2, 1999 Doubletree Hotel, 1515 Rhode Island Ave, NW, Washington, DC This one-day workshop was sponsored by the US EPA Office of Economy and Environment and the National Center for Environmental Research and Quality Assurance. The first session, "Brownfields and Property Values," focused on better measurement of private land values in the presence of environmental damages and urban infill versus greenfield development. The afternoon session, "Land Use and Tradeoffs in Rural Areas," explored examples of tradeoffs in public and private land values, involving open space, recreation, timber, species habitat and soil conservation. The day concluded with a discussion of innovative approaches to land use.
