Wetland Reserve Program (WRP) in Washington assists landowners to voluntarily restore and protect wetlands on private property. WRP offers options of permanent easements, 30-year easements and 10 year restoration cost share agreements. Washington currently has 91 easements covering over 13,000 acres enrolled in WRP. Washington NRCS has developed alliances with Ducks Unlimited, Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife and the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Services, environmental community and county governments to assist in the enrollments and restoration of wetlands under this program.

The major focus of WRP in Washington state is to restore wetlands and riparian areas to provide habitat for migratory wildlife as well as Threatened and Endangered aquatic wildlife species such as Salmon. Approximately $19.5 million has been directed towards the purchase of easements and restoration activities.
