Welcome to the Predictive Microbiology Information Portal

The USDA Food Safety & Inspection Service (FSIS) and the USDA Agricultural Research Service (ARS) have produced the Predictive Microbiology Information Portal (PMIP) to assist small and very small food companies in the use of Predictive Models and Food Microbiology information. Our vision is that the PMIP will be the most comprehensive website that brings together models, research data and other useful resources that assist small and very small processors in producing the safest foods.

The PMIP is especially useful for locating and retrieving predictive models and research data for use in HACCP systems. The PMIP provides information about the underlying principles of predictive models, the appropriate applicable of models and proper model interpretation. The PMIP also links users to numerous and diverse resources associated with models, databases, regulatory requirements, and food safety principles.
