CBHR's Dr. Susan Adams Launches New "Mississippi Crayfishes" Website

The Mississippi Crayfishes website (http://maps.fs.fed.us/crayfish/) brings together species distribution data (from Adams' research as well as from the Missississippi Museum of Natural Science, the Smithsonian National Museum of Natural History, and the Illinois Natural History Survey), photographs, and general information about the roughly 63 crayfish species in the state.

CBHR's Dr. Paul Hamel, Chairman of el Grupo CerĂșleo, accepted the award from Joel Holtrop, Forest Service Deputy Chief, National Forest Systems, during the 73rd North American Wildlife and Natural Resources Conference on March 27th. Aging Mussel Shells

We've all heard of counting a tree's rings to determine its age, but did you know a similar procedure is used to determine the age of mussel shells? CBHR technician Mickey Bland takes us through the process using a technique known as thin sectioning. Also, learn about Dr. Wendell Haag's upcoming publications related to shell rings.
