National Association of Conservation Districts

NACD's mission is to serve conservation districts by providing national leadership and a unified voice for natural resource conservation.

Olin Sims Conservation Leadership Award

On December 7, 2007, the conservation partnership lost a friend and outstanding leader in Olin Sims, President of the National Association of Conservation Districts (NACD). Mr. Sims was a rancher from McFadden, Wyoming, and was distinguished by years of volunteer service to conservation at the State and national levels.

In tribute to Mr. Sims’ memory, and to help further promote and recognize outstanding conservation leadership at the State and local levels, the Natural Resources Conservation Service and NACD are jointly establishing an Olin Sims Conservation Leadership Award. The award will be provided each year to one up-and-coming leader among conservation district volunteers who demonstrates excellence in promoting and leading voluntary conservation on private lands. The award winner will be recognized at the NACD National Conference in New Orleans on February 3, 2009.
