All Live Merchantable Tree Biomass on Timberland, 2002

 

Description

This map shows the spatial distribution of all live merchantable tree biomass in 2002, in million tons by county.

Use this map only to identify broad spatial trends. At the time of assessment, data were not available for interior Alaska, the Pacific Basin, Puerto Rico, U.S. Virgin Islands, and a small number of counties in the lower 48 states

Definitions:

Merchantable biomass is defined as the total ovendry, gross biomass (including bark) of a tree 5.0 inches DBH or larger from a 1-foot stump to a minimum 4-inch top DOB of the central stem.
