Number of Live Trees 1 Inch and Larger on Timberland, 2002

 

Description

This map shows the spatial distribution of the live trees one inch and larger by county. There are over 100 billion trees one inch and larger on timberland in the region.

Use this map only to identify broad spatial trends. At the time of assessment, data were not available for interior Alaska, the Pacific Basin, Puerto Rico, U.S. Virgin Islands, and a small number of counties in the lower 48 states

Definitions:

Timberland is defined as forest land capable of producing in excess of 20 cubic feet per acre per year and not legally withdrawn from timber production, with a minimum area classification of 1 acre.
