Fire History (Boise 2008)
No Longer on the Fringe: The Wildland Urban Interface as History
This workshop was held in Boise, Idaho on March 12, 2008
Sponsored by the Joint Fire Science Program, US Forest Service, and National Interagency Fire Center
This one-day workshop brought together historians, scientists, and journalists, who examined the so-called wildland/urban interface fire that has dominated the wildland fire community for nearly 20 years. The first half of the workshop was devoted to presentations (speakers listed below), and the second half included a tour of the National Interagency Fire Center in Boise.
Articles based on this workshop will appear in the fall 2008 issue of Forest History Today. Check this website in June 2008 for a link to a videocast of the presentations.
