The
TSU Cooperative Extension Program is committed to helping educate
limited-resource urban and rural families, small farmers, individuals,
and other groups and organizations within the rural and urban
communities. Educating People for a Better Living is our daily mission.
We use research-based information and technology to focus on priorities
and needs to help us achieve these goals. We offer programs in two key
areas: Agriculture and Natural Resources and Family, Youth and
Community.
In February 2007, the Nationwide Extension System approved a Criteria of Excellence in Cooperative Extension
matrix reflective of a 21st Century engaged organization. We stand
committed to measuring and communicating our performance in
teaching/learning, discovery scholarship, engagement, and management
excellence.
In
2007, we secured state matching funds which will allow us to increase
program staff by almost 68% at the state, regional and county
level. We continue our commitment for leadership development,
team building and successfully incorporating the creativity and
innovation of new faculty, county agents and staff and to be
accountable for those new funds.
While
we have increasingly focused on long term educational impacts and
outcomes and high tech programming efforts; we are mindful that these
long term impacts depend on these relationships and high touch provided
by Extension professionals. We see a need for an increasing role
for the use of technology, distance education, extension,
communications and marketing strategies to reach diverse
clientele.
We
are extremely proud of our partnerships and working relationships with
the joint UT/TSU Extension Advisory Council, UT Extension, USDA
agencies, a variety of professional and community organizations and
campus colleges and schools. Without those partnerships, we would not
be as effective.
We trust that you find our revised web page helpful and informative. Thank you for your continued support of our programs.
