Administration:  Foundation names 2 to board of trustees

The ASU Foundation (ASUF), a separate nonprofit organization that supports ASU, recently appointed John Graham and John Solheim, two Valley chief executive officers, to its board of trustees.

Administration | Journalism:  Crutchfield takes over as student media director

James N. Crutchfield, a former major newspaper publisher and editor, has been named ASU's director of student media. Additionally, Crutchfield was appointed to the Weil Family Professor of Journalism at the Walter Cronkite School of Journalism and Mass Communication.

Administration:  Academic leaders update Polytechnic campus plan

University Provost Elizabeth Capaldi and David Young, senior vice president of Academic Affairs, shared modifications to the existing five-year plan for ASU's Polytechnic campus with faculty and staff on March 27. Recommendations included name changes for two of the colleges and the official spinoff of the education unit as a standalone school.

Administration:  Wheeler leads way for College of Liberal Arts and Sciences

As far back as he can remember, Quentin Wheeler, the recently appointed ASU vice president and dean of the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences, has been on a quest to discover unknown species. A life-altering moment, he recalls, may have been at age 8, when, trying out his friend's new birthday gift – a cheap department-store microscope – he brought into focus protozoa “swimming” in a drop of water.

Marjorie S. Zatz has been appointed interim vice president and executive vice provost to ASU's West campus, replacing Mark Searle, who was named vice president for academic personnel.

Glenn Irvin has been appointed vice provost for Academic Affairs at ASU's Polytechnic campus, replacing David Schwalm, who was named dean of East College.

ASU has announced the appointment of David Schwalm as the dean of East College at ASU's Polytechnic campus, replacing Glenn Irvin, who was named vice provost for academic affairs at the Polytechnic campus, effective immediately.
