In addition to the ballrooms there were ten private dining "salons" and five restaurants employing 35 master cooks. During the Big Band era, the New Yorker hosted the most
famous bands of the day, including Benny Goodman, both of the Dorsey's and Woody Herman.

The Hotel Pennsylvania is located in the heart of midtown Manhattan, directly opposite Madison Square Garden and Penn Station. Built in 1919 by the Pennsylvania Railroad,
Hotel Pennsylvania is one of New York City's largest hotels.
The hotel is famous not only for its grandeur but also for its place in the world of entertainment. The renowned Cafe
Rouge Ballroom played host to many of the Big Band Era's greats, including the Dorsey Brothers, Count Basie, Duke Ellington, and the Glenn Miller Orchestra -- which forever immortalized
the hotel and its phone number in the 1940 hit "Pennsylvania 6-5000". New York's Hotel Pennsylvania has had the same phone number since 1919.
