Title: A watershed's response to logging and roads: South Fork of Caspar Creek, California, 1967-1976

Author: Rice, Raymond M.; Tilley, Forest B.; Datzman, Patricia A.

Date: 1979

Source: USDA Forest Service Research Paper PSW-146. Berkeley, California: Pacific Southwest Forest and Range Experiment Station, Forest Service, U.S. Department of Agriculture. 12 p.

Description: This paper offers a simple description of how road building and logging affect sedimentation. Field experiments are, however, rarely simple. Experimental results reflect not only the effects of conditions being tested, but also the vagaries of man and nature. In addition to the perturbations introduced into our data by weather patterns, malfunctioning instruments, and vandalism, our experiment included three other extraneous events of a less conventional nature.

Keywords: PSW4351, Caspar Creek, road construction, logging roads, logging effects, erosion, sedimentation, sediment load, California
