Description: The California Wildl i f e / F i s h Habitat Relationships (WFHR) System i s an ongoing e f f o r t to apply our knowledge o f w i l d l i f e habitat requirements t o i d e n t i f y and explain the consequences o f proposed land use a c t i v i t i e s , p a r t i c u l a r l y those a c t i v i t i e s t h a t a f f e c t vegetation. The U.S. Forest Service i n i t i a t e d the WFHR program i n California i n 1976 and has developed it f o r a l l Forest Service lands i n the state. The California Department of Fish and Game i s currently expanding the WFHR program t o include non-Forest Service lands In California.
