NRCS Data Resources

Data Types


NRCS distributes Natural Resources Inventory, Plants, and Soils data to the general public. For some of these services there is a nominal charge which will be stated on the order form(s). Base Cartographic (including Digital Orthophotography-DOQ and Digital Elevation Model-DEM) and Climate data are available to NRCS personnel and cooperating entities only. The Map Library is operated generally for the use of NRCS employees, selected products are also available to the general public.

The Natural Resources Conservation Service is a member of the Federal Geographic Data Committee which has assumed leadership in the evolution of the National Spatial Data Infrastructure in cooperation with state and local governments, academia, and the private sector.
