President Obama, you have me behind you all the way on this fight. It is the GOOD FIGHT and I am glad that you are heading the way. The people need to stand firm and tough as well, not be distracted by ALL the attacks that are sure to come. Stay focussed people; Keep Your Eyes on the Prize!

Regarding President Obama's commentary -2/28-09. Those are fighting words, especially from 3:00 minutes into it and on.
President Obama, you speak like I think. I never thought I'd live long enough to hear a President talk like that! You've got courage to take this on.
If the quality of a government or a people is measured by how we treat the least fortunate (whom we are all rapidly becoming) then your budget is a well designed gift to the American people. You are definitely working for America. May God Bless You. I support you to the max.
Thank you for taking on the fight and doing this for us.

Watching this film on whitehouse.gov - I get a no video , only a "Upgrade to Flash 10 message."

Here's a tip: Why not just use the Vimeo embed code to play the video on whitehouse.gov ??

    Problem solved.

Noble goals and aspirations, but the wrong way to get there, with lasting and devastating consquences for the future - creating more reliance and dependency upon the government, and growing it's size and scope to encroach states' rights.
Let's see if he will depart from his actions thus far and actually work with others who have proven methods and ideas for renewing ethics and responsibility in this country for true reform - across the board, from farmer to CEO to celebrity to politician.
We should not be lemmings, but rational and sensible in our approach to learn and support that which will make our country stronger on its wise foundation, not remake it by building a different foundation emulating those which have been proven to fail.
I support the position of presidency, and as with any other president, will support Obama when he adheres to sound policy, constitutional government, and honest avenues to bring reform to free market capitalism.
  • Paul Giaimo 4 days ago
brothermoon you are so wrong and Mr. President, you could not be more right.
The so-called 'proven methods' have done nothing but bring our country to the very edge of moral and economic bankruptcy. Taking power out of the hands of the millionaire lobbyists and their secret billionaire partners and returning it to us, the working class who made this country great is the only way.
The priviledge of living in the world's greatest democracy is not free, and I will pay my taxes this year with far greater pride when the last few outmoded and voted-out-by-mandate holdouts stop trying to stand in the way of the progress we absolutely need which Mr. Obama's budget plan represents.
    Go For It
  • brothermoon 4 days ago
A very blind and knee-jerk response, without even asking what I meant by 'proven methods'. Assuming is often the act of choice by those who don't use independent thought.
Proven methods are the free market capitalism ideas and policies that brought growth to our country again and again throughout the years. They also include smart regulation and oversight to ensure prudent, ethical, and responsible actions and standards. That was not implemented or performed for the past many years.
Even those in Obama's cabinet, his administration, and congress must pay their fair share of taxes as responsible and law-abiding citizens. They cannot demand one thing from the people and do another themselves. It's time for example and reform from the top down.. that's the CHANGE we need and will believe in.
Keep your eyes open and insist on consistency and the cessation of hypocrisy.
  • brothermoon 4 days ago
    Mr. President,
You were vague about what "change" you intended to bring to Washington during the campaign, and how it would be defined and accomplished. Most of those who supported and voted for you were not able to spell out what kind of change it would be.
Therefore, you received a mandate to bring about change - but not at any cost or by any means or fundamental changes in our economic system, system of government, or our country's foundational principles. It does not mean you can follow whatever path you desire and claim the American people want it and voted for it.
The basic goals and outcomes are the change we voted for, but the methods and policies on reaching those are worthy of debate, transparency, and wary observation by the American people and their representatives. We did not crown a king, but elected a president.
Please keep that in mind as you work with the branches of government to fulfill the goals through means that would make our founders proud, and our nation unified and stronger.
Thank you. I wish you peace, strength, and thoughtful humility.

Yes we can! I'm a 61-year-old psychologist and am once again proud to be an American. Who says elections don't have consequences. I'm not sure if you can pull it off, Mr. President, but I'm 100% behind your journey to transform this nation into a more equitable and compassionate community . . . and there are many of us who have your back. Let's do it. Go get 'em Mr. President!

"...and where we are met with cynicism and doubt, and those who tell us that we can't, we will respond with that timeless creed that sums up the spirit of a people...yes we can". - Barack Obama

Mr. President, you make me so proud. I'm a 64 yr old widow and in my lifetime I never thought I would see a black President. And I'm sure the rest of the world didn't either. There are people still second guessing you on many issues. But, when a black man can become president of the USofA, I can stand proudly and say 'yes we can'.

Thank you Mr President. I'm behind you 100%!

Sounds good, but why do we keep sticking more money into failed business? Pay my house off, then I'll spend more money in the economy.

Once we can catch you telling the truth, we may begin to believe what you say in these weekly reports. But you have told so, so many lies that we the people simply cannot believe anything you say at this point. I am hoping you change but am not highly confident you will.

    Mr. President,

Thankyou for takng the trouble to talk to us every week.
Thankyou for making all the funding plans available on whitehouse.gov for anyone who cares to know what is really happening.
Thankyou for planning to cut our deficit in half in four years
Thankyou for prioritizing healthcare, education and energy higher than tax cuts for the private sector - they have utterly failed to solve these problems in 30 years while the rest of world IS pulling ahead of us.

This country has a bad history of government waste. Thankyou for attempting to clean this up.

As a citizen, I promise to be vigilant to make sure that the government does what it promises, including you. Thankyou for putting us on the right course.

Why am I seeing video interlacing? You guys know what's up, just use a progressive camera.
  • interim_descriptor plus 15 hours ago
Ouch, yeah, that interlacing is really hard on the eyes.

User: On your next video, try encoding using the "progressive scan" option, or maybe try increasing the transparency on who actually benefits from your AIG bailout plans.

Either one (or ideally, both) will results in a more watchable, higher quality video, and thus more page views.

Good luck, and welcome to Vimeo! :)
  • Jeffrey Butler plus 3 hours ago
Yep, first thing I noticed; you inverted your fields when you sized this for vimeo (or didn't). You should deinterlace your stuff - see :12 or not shift your video up/down a scanline in post....or a coupla other things. It's a computer screen, fellers. Progressive display. Fields go bye bye or look like they do in this :12 ... but i tend to agree with interm_descriptor...
  • Jeffrey Butler plus 2 hours ago
hey, i don't see it as much above; but do still see it on the main whitehouse page....? scaling in vimeo brings it out...?
