Today in Coast Guard History
1979 - On 30 January 1979 there was an explosion at the Coast Guard Marine Safety Detachment office at Ponce Playa, Port Ponce, Puerto Rico. The OVPR (Organizacion De Voluntarios Por La Revelucion Puerto Riquena) claimed responsibility. There were no casualties and little damage at the facility.
