Welcome
to the Savannah River Site's
Citizen's
Advisory Board
The Savannah
River Site Citizens Advisory Board (CAB)
is composed of 25 individuals from South Carolina and Georgia. The
board members are chosen to reflect the cultural diversity of the
population affected by SRS.
The members, who serve two or three-year terms, represent all walks
of life, including the business world, academia, local government,
environmental and special interest groups, and the general public.
Two of the members specifically represent economically disadvantaged
persons.
The Board provides advice and recommendations to the U.S. Department
of Energy (DOE) on environmental remediation, waste management and
related issues. Ex-officio members from DOE, the U.S. Environmental
Protection Agency Region IV, the South Carolina Department of Health
and Environmental Control and the Georgia Department of Natural
Resources participate in board activities. Meetings are held every
other month on Mondays in a combined session beginning at 1 p.m.
Full Board meetings begin at 8:30 a.m. on Tuesdays. All meetings
are open to the public and public participation is encouraged. Public
comment periods are offered at various times throughout the meetings.
The
Board is composed of the following committees: |
