Natalie Rahn is an essential part of Courage Center’s volunteer advocacy group. For her, “The greatest way to help people is to make sure that policies are written the way they need to be.” Her work as an advocate gives a voice to Courage Center clients and to people with disabilities everywhere. Why does Natalie feel such a strong bond with Courage Center? “It gives me a place where I don’t have to explain everything. The people here understand what is happening with somebody with a disability.”

For the past ten years Stevie has been an extremely important volunteer for Courage Center. His primary focus is educating people about stroke awareness and prevention knowledge, especially in the African American community, where risk factors are highest. His tireless dedication to education has helped thousands, both locally and nationally, better understand the condition.

Chuck, now 17, has been coming to Courage Center since he was six years old. He is one of our most gifted athletes and plays everything from basketball to rugby. He loves traveling with his basketball team, “I have tournaments across the country. They’re mini vacations.” Did we mention his basketball team is number one in the nation?

Ann and her daughter Chloe first started working with Courage Center after Chloe was diagnosed with spina bifida. At first, the family didn’t know what was possible for Chloe’s future, but thanks to Courage Center, they feel anything can be accomplished. If you talk with Chloe, age 7, she’ll tell you all about her yoga class, “The dog is my favorite yoga pose, downward dog.”
While Candy was a client with Courage Center, she was inspired to help others, so she decided to become a volunteer. Now she showcases Courage Center’s services as a tour guide. Her relentless devotion motivates the entire staff, and her warm smile welcomes visitors and clients alike. What’s Candy’s favorite part about Courage Center? “The camaraderie. It’s an inspirational place.”
