  Morehouse School of Medicine (MSM) will be able to continue its revolutionary research on prostate cancer – a disease that killed more than 27,000 men in the United States in 2006 – thanks to a new grant by the U.S. Department of Defense (DOD).

  New therapeutic strategies to target breast cancer − the most frequently diagnosed cancer in women and the second most deadly − are being developed at Morehouse School of Medicine (MSM). Principal Investigator Ruben Rene Gonzalez-Perez, Ph.D., assistant professor in the MSM Department of Microbiology, Biochemistry and Immunology, and a Georgia Cancer Coalition (GCC) Distinguished Cancer Scholar, has been awarded a $1 million grant to continue work on strategies that are targeted primarily for one of the principal segments of the U.S. population − postmenopausal and obese women.
