PhenX
Description
PhenX is a three year project led by RTI International in collaboration with the
National Human Genome Research Institute (NHGRI) to contribute to the integration of
genetics and epidemiologic research. During the course of this project, up to 20 research
domains will be examined, with up to 15 measures being recommended for use in future GWAS
and other large-scale genomic research efforts.
The final product of the endeavor, the PhenX Toolkit, will be made available to
researchers and the greater scientific community via the PhenX web portal. It will
comprise background information on the measures, standard operating procedures, common
data elements, controlled vocabularies, a glossary of terms, standard analytic procedures
to harmonize similar measures, and an outline of suggested protocols and methods for
analyzing GWAS data. The PhenX web portal will also serve to promote the project, inform
the larger scientific community and facilitate interaction.
