PHARMO Record Linkage System
Description
The PHARMO Record Linkage System links six major sources of data and includes information on 2 million residents in the Netherlands. The linked data sources provide information on outpatient drug exposure; hospital admissions; discharge diagnoses; diagnostic, surgical, and treatment procedures; consultations with medical practitioners; in-hospital drug use; clinical laboratory procedures ordered by general practitioners and specialists; clinical and prescription drug data from general practitioners, and histological, cytological, and autopsy examinations. The System was established at the Utrecht and Rotterdam Universities in the early 1990s. The database provides insight into the effectiveness, safety, and economic value of prescription drugs as used in daily practice.
