Terms of Use for The Heart Truth Campaign Materials:

General Terms:  The information contained in materials published by the National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute (NHLBI) is in the public domain.  No further permission is required to reproduce or reprint the information in whole or in part.  However, organizations that reproduce NHLBI information should cite the National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute; National Institutes of Health; U.S. Department of Health and Human Services as the source.  This applies to printed publications as well as documents from the NHLBI Web site.  Organizations may add their own logo or name.  We further ask that no changes be made in the content of the material, and that the material as well as any NHLBI Internet links not be used in any direct or indirect product endorsement or advertising. 

Photography and Visuals:  Photography can only be used within the context of The Heart Truth campaign to raise awareness of women and heart disease.  Separation of the photos from the issue of women and heart disease is not permitted.  Inclusion of photos and visuals from The Heart Truth must be sourced using the following required language. 

  • Required sourcing language:  Photo courtesy of The Heart Truth, National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute.

Logo Usage:  In addition, the following required language must appear at least once on ALL partner materials (e.g., Web site, brochure) that include The Heart Truth logo.  This copy may appear in small (mice) print so as not to interfere with the design. 

  • Required trademark language:  The Heart Truth and Red Dress are trademarks of DHHS.
