Michael A. Diefenbach

Michael A. Diefenbach, Ph.D., is a health/social psychologist and Assistant Professor of Urology and Oncological Sciences at Mount Sinai School of Medicine. His research has focused on the psychological, social, and medical factors that influence health behavior decisions. A particular emphasis of his work is the investigation of the interplay between illness representations and emotional responses to health threats with regard to health behaviors (e.g., Diefenbach, Miller, Daly, 1999). On an applied level, Dr. Diefenbach has developed a multimedia based patient education and decision support software program that is currently evaluated for efficacy in a randomized controlled trial (e.g., Diefenbach et al., 2004.
