Cancer Prevention Faculty
Mission Statement
The Cancer Prevention Faculty was established as a precursor to the formation of the Laboratory of Cancer Prevention (LCP), CCR. The LCP serves as the current focal point for cancer prevention within the Center. Additional information may be found on the Laboratory of Cancer Prevention Web site.

The Cancer Prevention Faculty provides the intellectual focus for a cancer prevention program at the NCI. This Faculty interacts with the Molecular Targets and the Animal Models programs, facilitates interdisciplinary collaborative research in prevention, and enhances access to technologies applicable to prevention research.

The Faculty also promotes communication among molecular biologists, mouse geneticists, developmental biologists, epidemiologists, and clinical oncologists who are interested in considering the molecular and cellular basis of multistage carcinogenesis to create molecular targeted and other strategies for cancer prevention.

How To Join
NCI intramural principal investigators may join any of the Faculties/Working Groups in which they wish to participate. Although membership is intended primarily for NCI intramural principal investigators, some groups also permit other staff members to participate. Membership is also open to local NCI extramural science administrators.

Please check with the Faculty Chairperson, Nancy Colburn, Ph.D., if you have any questions.

To request membership in this or any NCI Intramural Program, please visit and fill out the Request for Membership Form.
