Abstract

The Children's Cancer Research Institute (CCRI) is a nonprofit, family-oriented organization devoted to developing improvements in cancer therapy and better supportive care for patients with cancer and their families. CCRI has been directly involved with well over 1,000 infants, children and young adults with cancer and has brought improvements in care to thousands more throughout the world in the past 15 years. To supplement the traditional medical cancer treatments (surgery, chemotherapy and radiation), other programs are offered. These include direct assistance with transportation and lodging costs and other necessities for needy families, a chaplain, art therapist, summer camp, recreation activities, a family newsletter, and support groups.
