The Candlelighters Childhood Cancer Foundation, founded in 1970, is a nonprofit, international organization that provides support, information and advocacy to families of children with cancer and to professionals who work with them. Services include: a network of peer support groups and contacts for parents of children with cancer, an information clearinghouse, a toll-free hotline, publications, referrals for help with problems regarding health insurance, treatment related issues, employment and education.
Publications
The Foundation distributes newsletters for parents and professionals, patients and siblings, and adult survivors; a bibliography; handbooks on schooling and bone marrow transplantation; a publication on how to start local support group chapters, as well as a comprehensive self-help book for elementary aged children who are diagnosed with cancer; in addition to some publications by other organizations.
