Upton & Donnelly to Highlight Great Lakes Compact
Great Lakes Compact needs House & Senate approval for enactment – House expected to approve Compact on Monday

NEW BUFFALO, MI – Michigan Rep. Fred Upton and Indiana Rep. Joe Donnelly will join Indiana and Michigan state legislators Monday morning in New Buffalo, Michigan to discuss the importance of the Great Lakes Compact which is expected to be passed by the U.S. House Monday evening.  The Great Lakes states of Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, Minnesota, New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania and Wisconsin have ratified the compact in their respective legislatures, and Congress must now give its approval for enactment. In 2005, the Great Lakes Governors, in collaboration with regional partners, completed the negotiation of the Compact to protect the Great Lakes and sustainably manage this shared resource.

Directions: Take Whittaker Street through the downtown, over the Galien River bridge, turn right when Whittaker ends and left turn into the park.   The City of New Buffalo will have the gates to the park up and parking will be free.  The event will be in the southwest corner of the park parking lot. 

Rain location is Lions shelter across the street from beach – rain location does have view of the water.
