ICSTI, the International Council for Scientific and Technical Information, offers a unique forum for interaction between organizations that create, disseminate and use scientific and technical information. ICSTI's mission cuts across scientific and technical disciplines, as well as international borders, to give member organizations the benefit of a truly global community.

 
MEMBERSHIP NEWS

In addition to Microsoft, the National Agriculture Library (US) and IFLA (the International Federation of Library Associations), who all joined ICSTI in 2008, we are pleased to announce confirmation of both Molecular Connections PVT Ltd, and the Korean Association of Medical Journal Editors, as new members, and to welcome back INIS (the International Nuclear Information System) who have rejoined.

 
FORTHCOMING EVENTS

ICSTI's 2009 Winter Meeting will be held in Paris on 28 February - 2 March. The meeting, which this year does not require attendees to pay a registration fee, includes, on the morning of Monday 2 March, a half-day Workshop organized by the German National Library of Science and Technology (TIB) on 'Primary Data in Libraries'; a meeting with members of the Executive Board of CODATA, to discuss issues of common interest and opportunities for collaboration, will be held on the afternoon of Monday 2 March. 2008 GENERAL ASSEMBLY:

  This year's public conference and annual meeting was hosted by the Korea Institute of Science and Technology Information (KISTI), in Seoul, Korea, on June 11-14. The very successful Public Conference was held on June 11-12 with the theme:
New Frontiers in Scientific and Technical Information.
Invited speakers came from Korea, Japan, China, USA and Europe. The conference addressed key issues in new trends in scholarly communication, STI as a dynamic engine for R&D, and scientific data management and integration.

WorldWideScience Alliance - ICSTI becomes the principal sponsor.

In 2007 ICSTI agreed to commit sustainable funding to the development of WorldWideScience.org, a global science gateway connecting national and international scientific databases.
WorldWideScience.org accelerates scientific discovery and progress by providing one-stop searching of global science sources.
