About CBCTR

The National Cancer Institute (NCI) Cooperative Breast Cancer Tissue Resource (CBCTR) is funded by the NCI to supply primary breast cancer tissues with associated clinical data. The tissues in the CBCTR collection are formalin-fixed, paraffin-embedded primary breast cancer specimens with associated pathologic and clinical outcome information. These specimens are currently being made available in the form of tissue microarrays that have been designed by the CBCTR to examine markers related to tumor progression or prognosis. At the present time, the CBCTR is not able to consider requests for full tissue sections from individual cases.

The cases on the tissue microarrays are annotated with extensive clinical and pathological data and are statistically designed for high power to detect differences in marker distribution according to disease stage (Progression tissue microarray) or to detect an association of a marker with survival outcome (Prognostic tissue microarray).
