| Summary: |
In the classroom, grade school children are taught how to brush their teeth properly. The dental supervisor, assisted by two dental hygienists (all women), drills the first graders of Jefferson School in the correct method of brushing their teeth. The hygienists go up and down the rows of desks. The first one puts a paper towel on each desk; the second one places a toothbrush, taken from a rack she carries, on each paper towel. The supervisor stands before the class demonstrating the proper way to brush the teeth. The children sit at their desks and practice brushing. The hygienists go among the children correcting poor form. Then all the children stand by their desks and brush some more, the hygienists again circulating. The toothbrushing drill at Franklin School is shown. These students have been practicing for three years. Again the towels and brushes are passed out by the hygienists. The supervisor (a different one) leads the sitting class in the drill as the hygienists correct the students’ technique. Again the children stand and brush some more. In unison they sit and twist up their toothbrushes in their paper towels. |
